How to Move a Treadmill?
Ensure the treadmill is set to a zero incline and unplugged from any external power sources. Most of the treadmills have a tower with a console mounted to the main frame of the treadmill with 2(3) bolts on each side. If you are not sure where those bolts are look into your assembly manual. If you bought your treadmill new you would know that all the treadmills come in a flat box with a console and a tower separated. The reason why you should take the tower off is because without it you can flip the treadmill's base and fit through any single door without damaging the equipment or your walls. After you unbolt the tower, (you can keep console mounted to the tower) move it an inch out of the treadmill and you will see wire coming out off the tower to the base of your treadmill. This wire connects your console and lower board (control board) of your treadmill. The wire usually has a connector which you will have to disconnect and place your tower aside your treadmill.
To begin the moving process one person should be positioned at the front of the treadmill (where the tower was) and another at the back end of the machine. The front of the treadmill is the heavy end, meaning it is heaviest end of the treadmill because the motor is located on that side. First, you lift one side of the treadmill (BOTH PEOPLE MUST DO IT TOGETHER) and put the base on its side, vertically. Then both people in squatting position (remember lift with your knees, not your back) grab the bottom of the treadmill and get up at the same time holding a base of the treadmill vertically. It is recommended to use back braces to avoid hurting your back. Before you start moving, ask each other if you are ready, make sure you have a firm, secure grip. When both of you are ready, the person with the light end should start moving backwards, while the person with the heavy end moves forward. Do not try to twist your body, look at your feet while you are moving backwards. The person with a heavy end should warn you about any upcoming obstacles.
After you move base to the desired location, begin the assembly of the treadmill. First connect your wire, then mount your tower to the base. After you completed the assembly, turn it on and make sure everything is working properly. After the move, you might need to do belt adjustments.
